Beach, walking routes & dog exercise areas

“Moin! I’m Lotti, the office watchdog. Once Fenja has welcomed our guests, I take over the unofficial comfort check. My favourite jobs: looking friendly, hoping for treats and making sure two- and four-legged guests feel welcome here.”

Beach

From October 1 to March 31, dogs are allowed to walk along the entire beach. During the summer season this is not allowed. Exceptions are the dog beaches next to Niendorf harbour (“An der Acht”), at the end of Timmendorfer Strand, and several sections in Scharbeutz.

Walking routes

The Brodtener Steilufer cliffs toward Travemuende offer impressive views and are ideal for longer walks. Around Hemmelsdorfer See, quiet paths through the nature reserve are perfect for switching off.

Dog exercise area

In Klingberg, about 11 km away, there is an 18-hectare off-leash forest area with a water point and two large play meadows, ideal for active dogs. For owners there is a shelter and shaded picnic spots, pleasant even on hot days.
